Motorized Module (Active Unit)

The drive mechanics of Fabrica — contains high-torque servo mounts, drive shafts, and the structural chassis. This unit is responsible for actively lifting and folding garments.

Scalable by design: Print additional motorized modules and arrange them in any grid layout — 4×4, 4×5, 5×5, or custom. Add more wherever you need active folding axes. The controller supports up to 16 active motorized modules maximum.

1

Motorized Frame

Main structural border housing the motor mount. Provides mounting points for the servo motor and holds everything together.

2

Servo Drive Shaft

Vertical column connected to the motor. Transfers rotational motion from the servo to the folding mechanism.

3

Servo Coupler

Connects the motor pin to the shaft. Ensures secure connection between the servo spline and drive shaft.

4

Servo Housing Cover

Lid that encloses the motor compartment. Protects the servo from dust and provides a clean finished look.

5

Frame Joiners

Small clips for connecting chassis sections. Allow modular assembly and provide structural rigidity between frame parts.

6

Active Folding Flap

Large perforated panel that performs the actual folding motion. Perforations reduce weight while maintaining strength.
